Romina is pure force—full of life, spark, and joy. She loves to run and play, and her excitement for walks is absolutely contagious. She greets you with the biggest smile and, after the fun, settles in for the sweetest cuddles.

She is a total water dog. Pools, rivers, rain, the hose, the sea—if there’s water, Romina is all in. She’s incredibly well-balanced and smart like no other, a fast learner who truly wants to engage and connect.

Romina does great with other dogs. She loves smaller dogs and bigger dogs with mellow hearts, and she knows how to wrestle and make friends with confident pups just like her. At a perfect 25 lbs, she has the most beautiful, unique coloring. Her DNA test revealed she’s a boxer mix of sorts—and without a doubt, one of the bravest, funniest girls you’ll ever meet

I came across Romina late one night while scrolling on social media, and something in her eyes stopped me in my tracks. When I read that she had only two days left to live, my heart sank.

Romina once had a family. Her person had to leave Mexico and, heartbreakingly, was forced to leave Romina behind. She shared that she had no choice—but she was trying to make things right and was desperately asking for help.

I reached out immediately, determined to find a way to bring Romina to Washington. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to place her somewhere safe while she completed her travel protocol. During that time, one of our incredible adopters stepped forward and offered to foster her upon arrival in Seattle. Her former family asked for a small loan to help cover some of her expenses, and we covered the rest.

It felt like a miracle how quickly everything fell into place—but it did. Romina is now in Washington and ready to begin her next chapter.
